2011 NYC Fashion Week

Spring is quickly approaching and nobody foretells fashion styles and trends quicker than New York City's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.  Each year held at Bryant Park, socialites from all walks of life and backgrounds mark their calendars to attend the shows of their favorite designers to view upcoming trends.  The biggest names in fashion and celebrities of all kinds can be seen sitting within the first few rows of the runway in their proper attire, most likely wearing the wardrobe from that particular designer hoping to be photographed and gain some press.  "No press is bad press" is the mentality of many socialites . . . or at least the ones hoping for their 15 minutes of fame.

This year the models strutted the cat walk with messy hair styles or very natural loose curls. The "bed head" look is going strong and a modern twist to the french braid has been revived.  As a good friend and fashion enthusiast noticed hair trends maybe mimicking Vogue Creative Director Grace Coddington displayed big, wacky, teased hair.  All in all natural, subtle beauty is on the rise this Spring, and I LOVE IT!

Make up essentials include natural eye shadows accenting the LOWER lash line and bright red lipstick.  Pastels can be seen, and I am a fan of a really bright, rainbow eye this Spring!  It's completely the opposite of natural, isn't it?  But it's so fresh and hip.  It's so new and bold.  It commands attention and, when done correctly, is very interesting and almost fascinating.  Probably because I am not one who has mastered the technique of how to apply the eye shadows to get this look.  But I appreciate when one pushes outside their comfort zone and test the waters to try new things.  Evolving, experimenting and having fun is what life is all about!

So I say this- NOW is the time to really experiment and get creative with your design.  NOW is the time to try new things and embrace a new world of fashion.  And have fun doing it!  Spring is just around the corner.
